The Elkford Chamber of Commerce is seeking an organized, energetic and motivated individual for the role of Executive Director to champion the existing and emerging business needs of our members and the community. We are looking for someone to work with us to grow and strengthen our Chamber by serving our membership, advocating for business needs, and building strategic partnerships within the community.
Reporting to the Board of Directors and acting as the first point of contact for the Chamber, the Executive Director must be a highly motivated and organized professional who can set priorities, work with minimal supervision, and demonstrate initiative and a service-oriented attitude.
Key duties: Manage daily operations of the organization including implementation and administration of the policies and programs established by the Board of Directors; serve as the Chamber’s membership and promotions administrator; manage communications; and work with the Board to plan, execute, and attend events and activities. The Executive Director will also manage the Elkford Hub, an in-development co-working and flexible retail space.

Key duties: Manage daily operations of the organization including implementation and administration of the policies and programs established by the Board of Directors; serve as the Chamber’s membership and promotions administrator; manage communications; and work with the Board to plan, execute, and attend events and activities. The Executive Director will also manage the Elkford Hub, an in-development co-working and flexible retail space.
Responsibilities:
- Manage incoming phone calls, incoming/outgoing mail and all electronic communications.
- Ensure that all Chamber records are current (i.e. policies, insurance, registration).
- Maintain and update the Chamber’s website, social media channels, and other communications.
- Maintain membership services including responding to inquiries, invoicing, and fee collection.
- Plan, promote, and implement events and programs.
- Attend and report to the Board of Directors at monthly meetings.
- Oversee and manage the fiscal resources of the organization including accounts receivable and payable, monthly payroll and filing, and assist the Treasurer in providing monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors.
- Assist in the planning and management of the Elkford Hub, an in-development co-working and flexible retail space.
- Maintain office supply/inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate:
- Will champion the growth of business supports and Chamber membership in our community.
- Has demonstrated clerical experience in a professional environment.
- Has strong time management, organization, and customer service skills.
- Is a strong communicator (verbal, writing, social media, etc.).
- Can plan a great event or is willing to learn.
- Is proficient in various productivity software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive)
- This position is expected to start as a mostly remote-work position which will lead to in-person upon the opening of the Elkford Hub. Attendance is expected at monthly meetings and Chamber events in Elkford, as well as occasional meetings regionally in other Elk Valley communities.
- Occasional evening and weekend attendance at events or meetings is required.
- Pay rate is $25 to $30/hour dependent on experience, 35 hours per week.
- Vacation pay in accordance with the Employment Standards Act.
- Contract is for a one-year term, with potential for change and continuation after year one, depending on funding.
